java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

the problem

StarTeam Synchronizer for Quality Center generates the following error when running on a 64-bit machine:  “java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified”.

Resolution:

As the StarTeam Synchronizer for Quality Center is a 32-bit application it will not use the default ODBC DSN wizard on a 64-bit machine. Instead you need to perform the following in order to create a DSN for the Synchronizer to use:

1.  Open the DSN ODBC wizard which is located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe
2.  Click on the System DSN tab
3.  Add the DSN for the Quality Center database
4.  Click through the wizard and click Finish
5.  Run the Quality Center Synchronizer batch file again
